Joining Information
A good Scout advances in rank and supports his
Troop and himself by setting a good example. He
demonstrates Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath
and Scout Law in his everyday life.
Troop 23 meets most Thursdays at St. Genevieve’s Parish on 200
Monmouth Road in Elizabeth, NJ. Meetings are held from 7:00-8:45 PM,
and run from September to June.

Who can join? Any boy from St. Genevieve Parish or surrounding
communities that has completed the fifth grade or is 11 years old. New
members can join at any time of the year.

The troop’s calendar is full of activities, from weekend camping trips to
hikes to ceremonies. The troop also participates in community service
events, like the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony at the Watchung
Camp in a tent?
Build a campfire?
Cook your own dinner?
Paddle a canoe?
Shoot a rifle?
Swim in a mountain lake?
Go rock climbing?
See the memorials in Washington, DC at night?
Sleep in a Deserted Village?
Hike the battlefields of Gettysburg?
Backpack in the Adirondack Mountains?
Watch the sun rise over a mountain in New Mexico?

The Scouting program instills character, good citizenship and
physical fitness in boys and young men through outdoor
activities such as campouts and hikes, involvement in community
activities, and just plain FUN!

Cub Scouting provides activities and training for boys in the
1st through 5th grades.  Boy Scouting is for boys who are at least
11 years old or graduated from the 5th grade.  

Cub Scout Pack 23 and Boy Scout Troop 23 have served the
youth of the Elizabeth area for over 50 years.  These units have
earned hundreds of awards, have produced over 70 Eagle Scouts,
and have leaders who are well-known and widely respected by
other Scout leaders across the country.

Boy Scouts meet on Wednesday evenings. All meetings are from
7:00 to 8:45 pm in the hall under St. Genevieve’s Church,
200 Monmouth Road, Elizabeth.
